Background
The General Medical Officer provides comprehensive clinical care to patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and differential diagnoses for patients presenting with various conditions.
Treatment Planning: Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, prescribe medications, and initiate appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Emergency Care: Provide rapid assessment and stabilization for urgent and emergency cases, recognizing clinical red flags early.
Patient Monitoring: Monitor patient progress, review treatment outcomes, and adjust care plans as necessary.
Referral and Coordination: Identify patients requiring specialist care and make timely referrals to consultants or higher-level facilities.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records.
Patient and Family Education: Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognosis clearly to patients and families.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with nurses, clinical officers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
Continuous Learning: Participate in continuous medical education, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Supervision: Supervise and mentor junior clinical staff, including Clinical Officers and Interns.
Qualifications
MBChB or equivalent medical degree, valid practicing license, and relevant clinical experience.
