FRENCH TEACHER (1 POSITION)
Crested Crane Academy invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and dedicated candidates for the position of French Teacher.
1. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To plan, prepare and deliver effective French lessons that develop learners’ communication skills, confidence, knowledge and appreciation of the French language and culture. The successful candidate will contribute to high academic standards, learner discipline, assessment, and the overall development of learners in accordance with the school’s curriculum and policies.
2. ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credits, including Mathematics and English.
- Diploma or Degree in Education, preferably with French as a teaching subject/specialisation. A valid Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) Practising Licence. Relevant teaching experience will be an added advantage.
- Good command of both written and spoken French and English.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective French lessons.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and teaching materials.
- Teach French in accordance with the prescribed curriculum.
- Assess learners regularly through different methods.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of learners’ progress.
- Identify learning needs and provide support (including remedial).
- Maintain classroom management and promote good discipline.
- Use appropriate teaching methods and resources.
- Integrate ICT and digital resources where appropriate.
- Participate in departmental and staff meetings, and school activities.
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians.
- Participate in co-curricular activities and contribute to school life.
- Maintain professional standards and comply with school policies.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by management.
4. KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Strong French language and communication skills.
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- Strong lesson planning and delivery skills.
- Good assessment and learner-progress monitoring skills.
- Ability to use learner-centred and competency-based approaches.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
- Good computer literacy and ability to use ICT in teaching and learning, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, email and other relevant digital/online educational platforms.
- Creativity and ability to develop engaging teaching materials. Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Professional integrity, reliability and commitment to learners’ development.
- Ability to work effectively under minimum supervision.
- Willingness to participate in continuous professional development.
