Finance Manager

Key Requirements

• Degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in a Finance Manager or similar senior finance position.
• Previous experience within the FMCG sector or a fast-paced commercial environment is preferred.
• Strong experience in cash, stock, AP, AR, debtors and claims management.
• Proven experience in banking, treasury and financial operations.
• Strong knowledge of Zambian taxation, statutory requirements and labour legislation.
• Experience managing statutory returns, audits and financial compliance.
• Experience with payroll and employee-related financial administration.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, expense control and financial reporting.
• Experience with customs clearance and import-related financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee cash, stock, AP, AR, debtors and claims management to ensure accurate and effective financial control.
• Manage banking, treasury and cash-flow activities while maintaining strong relationships with financial institutions.
• Oversee payroll and staff-related finance administration, including statutory requirements and expatriate work permits.
• Ensure timely payment and submission of statutory returns and coordinate statutory and special audits.
• Manage customs clearance processes and ensure goods received correspond accurately with supplier invoices.
• Prepare accurate MIS reports and financial information within required deadlines.
• Monitor direct and indirect expenses against approved budgets and ensure appropriate authorisation.
• Support management with financial analysis, reporting and operational decision-making.
• Oversee finance-related administration and assist with IT and other business support functions.
• Ensure financial processes comply with company policies, budgets and applicable legislation.

Key Skills

• Strong financial management, accounting and bookkeeping skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, PivotTables and financial analysis.
• Strong Sage or similar accounting system proficiency.
• Excellent cash-flow, treasury and banking management skills.
• Strong AP, AR, debtor and stock reconciliation abilities.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, expense control and financial reporting.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong understanding of tax, statutory compliance and financial controls.
• Excellent audit preparation and compliance skills.
• Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• High attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality.
• Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related field.
• CA Inter, MBA in Finance or M.Com is advantageous.
• Minimum 8 years’ relevant finance management experience.
• FMCG finance experience is highly advantageous.
• Strong working knowledge of Zambian tax and statutory requirements.
• Knowledge of Zambian labour legislation and compliance requirements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency is essential.
• Sage experience is advantageous.
