Role Summary for ESG Manager Jobs in Lusaka
The ESG Manager will spearhead the development, execution, and continuous enhancement of the company’s Environmental, Social & Governance strategy. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with local and international regulatory reporting standards, lead sustainability initiatives, and embed ESG principles into all facets of our operations. Collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders will be essential to achieve strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development & Execution: Design and implement ESG strategies aligned with global standards such as ISSB, CSRD, GRI, and TCFD. Establish long-term sustainability objectives including greenhouse gas reduction targets and net-zero pathways. Integrate ESG considerations into operations, supply chain, finance, and product development.
- Reporting & Disclosure: Manage annual ESG reporting processes to ensure compliance with mandatory and voluntary disclosure frameworks. Prepare ESG content for annual reports, regulatory filings, and investor communications.
- Environmental Management: Lead carbon accounting and emissions data management, ensuring adherence to ISO 14001 and related environmental standards. Oversee environmental risk assessments, supply chain sustainability efforts, and waste reduction programs.
- Social Value & Governance: Develop and implement community engagement, volunteering, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Conduct environmental and social due diligence for new projects and investments.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Deliver ESG training and awareness programs internally. Cultivate and maintain relationships with investors, regulators, NGOs, and sustainability partners. Coordinate cross-functional teams to advance ESG objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Business Administration, Finance, Sustainability, Engineering, or related fields. A Master’s degree is advantageous.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in ESG management, corporate sustainability, or environmental risk management.
- Demonstrated expertise in ESG reporting, carbon accounting, and sustainability strategy implementation.
- Familiarity with standards such as ISO 14001, IFC Performance Standards, or the EU Taxonomy.
- Strong analytical skills in carbon accounting, data analysis, and KPI tracking.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven project management capabilities and organizational skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple business functions with strategic commercial insight.
- High ethical standards, meticulous attention to detail, and effective problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory.
