JOB DESCRIPTION: DRIVER

Employer: Sali International Women’s Hospital, Lusaka IVF & Fertility Hospital

Location: Lusaka, Zambia

JOB PURPOSE

Provide safe, reliable and timely transport for hospital staff, patients and supplies. Maintain hospital vehicles and support daily transport needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Transport staff, patients and authorised visitors safely.
2. Collect and deliver hospital supplies, documents and equipment.
3. Plan routes to ensure timely arrivals and efficient fuel use.
4. Check tyres, brakes, lights, oil and water before each trip.
5. Keep vehicles clean and ready for use.
6. Maintain accurate mileage, fuel and trip records.
7. Report vehicle faults, accidents and maintenance needs promptly.
8. Follow traffic rules and hospital transport procedures.
9. Assist passengers when entering and leaving the vehicle.
10. Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality.
11. Support other authorised transport duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
2. Valid Zambian driving licence appropriate for the vehicles driven.
3. At least three years of professional driving experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
4. Clean driving record.
5. Strong knowledge of roads in Lusaka.
6. Good communication skills, punctuality and ability to multitask.
7. Must reside within a 5 km radius of the hospital.
