Corridor Manager

The Corridor Manager will be responsible for securing and optimising transport capacity across the Copperbelt corridor. The role will develop reliable carrier partnerships, improve truck utilisation, reduce empty kilometres and consolidate cargo across customers and commodities.

Working closely with Commercial and Operations teams, the position will provide the capacity certainty needed to support growth, reliable service delivery and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the corridor’s transport capacity strategy.
• Secure long-term capacity through carrier partnerships, dedicated fleets and contracted agreements.
• Maintain contingency capacity for peak demand and operational disruptions.
• Identify backloads to reduce empty kilometres and improve truck utilisation.
• Consolidate freight to increase cargo density and transport efficiency.
• Develop and negotiate transport rates, contracts and cost models.
• Monitor fleet economics, including cost per kilometre, cost per tonne and round-trip profitability.
• Track competitor activity, cargo volumes, infrastructure developments and regulatory changes.
• Build relationships with transporters, customs authorities, border officials, rail operators, government bodies and other corridor stakeholders.
• Support Commercial teams with reliable capacity and Operations teams with dependable transport solutions.
• Use TMS, BI dashboards and data analysis to forecast demand, identify capacity gaps and monitor carrier performance.
• Identify and manage operational, commercial, compliance and security risks.
• Ensure compliance with transport, customs, safety and environmental requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Economics, Business or a related field.
• At least 10 years’ experience in logistics, freight forwarding or transport operations.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a senior management role.
• Proven experience in capacity planning, carrier management and demand forecasting.
• Strong knowledge of fleet economics and transport costing.
• Commercial and financial management experience, including P&L responsibility.
• Experience working across Sub-Saharan African transport corridors.
• Experience with TMS, BI dashboards and data analytics tools.
• Experience in mining, steel, agriculture, tobacco or bulk commodity logistics would be advantageous.
• Copperbelt corridor experience would be highly advantageous.
