Play it Forward Zambia (PFZ) is seeking a creative, proactive and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Livingstone, Zambia. The Communications & Fundraising Officer will play a key role in bringing our work to life through compelling stories, photography, video and digital communications, while supporting fundraising campaigns, donor engagement and partnerships. We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting people, finding great stories and creating engaging content that inspires people to support our work.
Background
Play it Forward Zambia is a non-profit organisation and football club that uses sport as a platform to create opportunities for young people. We work closely with our UK-registered charity, Play it Forward.
Our mission is to empower young Zambians to develop sustainable livelihoods through quality education, health and football programmes. We work with over 1,500 young people each year through initiatives including education, health and wellbeing, digital skills, mentoring, employment support and football. Our support on and off the pitch helps young people develop the skills, confidence and opportunities they need to succeed in school, the workforce and in life.

Job Details
Location: Play it Forward Office, Livingstone, Zambia
Type: Full-time
Contract: 1-year rolling contract, subject to a 3-month probation
Salary: Competitive
Reports to: Head of Programmes
To be successful in this role you will be a creative and confident communicator with a passion for storytelling. You will regularly visit our programmes and football activities to capture stories, photographs and videos and will work closely with PFZ's Football Media Officer to coordinate content.
Essential skills and experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Great writing, editing and storytelling skills.
- Creative photography and videography skills.
- Experience creating content for social media.
- Proficient in Canva or similar design software, or willing to learn.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to use your own initiative.
- Good computer and digital skills.
- Confident working with young people, staff, supporters and partners.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Communications
Key Deliverable: Effectively communicate our story and engage our supporters.
- Develop and deliver an engaging social media content calendar.
- Regularly visit programmes and football activities to capture stories, photographs and videos.
- Create content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
- Write and edit newsletters, website stories and supporter communications.
- Work closely with PFZ's Football Media Officer to coordinate content and share stories and creative assets.
- Maintain a library of photographs, videos, testimonials and case studies.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across our communications.
- Support PR and media opportunities to increase awareness of our work.
- Ensure safeguarding and appropriate consent procedures are followed when creating content.
2. Fundraising
Key Deliverable: Support fundraising activities that generate income for our work.
- Support the development and delivery of fundraising campaigns and appeals.
- Create engaging fundraising content, stories and campaign updates.
- Support donor communications and demonstrate the impact of their support.
- Help collect stories, photographs and information for funding applications and reports.
- Identify local fundraising, corporate and partnership opportunities.
- Develop creative ideas for fundraising and raising PFZ's profile.
- Support the organisation of fundraising events and supporter activities.
3. Events Management
Key Deliverable: Support events that engage supporters, raise awareness and generate income.
- Support the planning and delivery of fundraising and community events.
- Coordinate event communications and promotion.
- Capture photographs, videos and stories from events.
- Support volunteers, partners and suppliers where required.
- Maintain a communications and events calendar.
