Position Overview: Clearing and Forwarding Jobs in Lusaka

As a Clearing & Forwarding Officer, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of customs clearance procedures to ensure timely and cost-effective cargo handling. This role demands attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of customs regulations to facilitate smooth cross-border operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit all necessary customs clearance documentation accurately and promptly.
• Calculate and process customs duties, VAT, and other relevant taxes while ensuring accuracy to avoid overpayments.
• Verify HS Codes and ensure correct customs classification for all shipments.
• Track shipments from port arrival to final delivery destination.
• Maintain comprehensive and organized records of all import, export, and transit documentation.
• Manage and update records for required permits and licenses.
• Coordinate with transporters and drivers to facilitate smooth cargo movement.
• Monitor transit times closely and report any delays or clearance issues promptly.
• Provide daily status updates on clearance processes to the Operations Manager.
• Ensure full compliance with Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) customs procedures and cross-border regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Customs Clearing, Transport & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Possession of a valid ZRA Customs Clearing Agent Licence is mandatory.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in customs clearing and forwarding roles.
• Strong knowledge of customs documentation, HS Codes, duties, VAT, transit procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Excellent coordination, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
