About the Role and Employer

JS HR Consulting Services is recruiting on behalf of the Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency, a reputable organization focused on agricultural development in Eastern Zambia. The position is based in Chipata and offers full-time employment with an open application deadline, accepting candidates on a rolling basis until the role is filled.

Key Responsibilities of the Business Development Officer

• Identify and cultivate new business opportunities within the agricultural sector, targeting farmers, agro-dealers, cooperatives, and agribusiness partners.
• Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with farmers, suppliers, cooperatives, and other key stakeholders.
• Conduct thorough market research to analyze trends, customer needs, and competitor activities within the agriculture industry.
• Develop and implement effective business development and sales strategies to increase revenue and market share.
• Represent the company at agricultural trade shows, expos, farmer field days, and industry forums to enhance brand visibility.
• Prepare proposals, quotations, and detailed reports on business development efforts for management review.
• Track and report on sales pipelines and business development activities regularly.
• Support branding initiatives including social media campaigns, promotional materials, and farmer engagement events.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 Certificate with at least 3 credits.
• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Marketing, Business Administration, or related fields.
• Experience in agricultural business development or sales is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel to farms, agro-dealer outlets, and agribusiness sites as required.
• Self-motivated, target-driven, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficient with basic digital tools such as email, spreadsheets, and social media platforms for reporting and outreach.

Performance Indicators for Success

• Number of new farmer and agribusiness clients onboarded monthly.
• Consistent month-on-month revenue and sales growth from agricultural sector clients.
• Qualified leads generated from the agricultural market segment each month.
• Frequency of farmer and agribusiness engagements including site visits, field days, and expos.
• Number of partnership agreements or MOUs signed with cooperatives and agro-dealers quarterly.
• Growth in brand visibility and awareness within farming and agribusiness communities.
• Lead-to-sale conversion rate demonstrating effective business development.
