Position Overview: Advocate Jobs in Lusaka
The Advocate will be responsible for monitoring legal risks in documentation and advising on acceptable risk assumptions. This role involves interpreting laws, rulings, and regulations for both individuals and corporate entities. The Advocate will conduct thorough legal research, gather evidence, and participate in case preparation activities such as depositions, site inspections, and discovery processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal representation for clients in civil and criminal court proceedings.
- Manage regulatory compliance and related legal services.
- Interview new clients and provide legal advice to existing clients.
- Support clients seeking Orders for Protection and attend relevant court hearings.
- Ensure all necessary approvals are obtained before executing legal documents.
- Explain legal principles and offer clear advice to clients.
- Represent clients at arbitration and mediation hearings.
- Draft, review, and manage wills, trusts, estates, contracts, and deeds.
- Develop innovative legal solutions tailored to client needs.
- Supervise paralegals and legal assistants, ensuring efficient workflow.
- Prepare pleadings, notices, and appear in court as directed.
- Maintain records and statistical data on clients in collaboration with legal assistants.

Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Law from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of three years post-Bar experience with a reputable legal firm or corporate organization.
- Extensive experience in litigation and corporate law.
- Proven ability to liaise effectively with statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Demonstrated expertise in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing legal documents.
- Capacity to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Membership with the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) is mandatory.
