About the Accident Repairs Officer Role
The Accident & Repairs Officers will play a vital role in coordinating vehicle fault reporting, repair scheduling, spare parts procurement, and accident management. Reporting directly to the Fleet Manager, successful candidates will handle multiple repair and accident cases, liaising with drivers, mechanics, insurers, police, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective vehicle maintenance and accident resolution.
Key Responsibilities for Accident Repairs Officer Jobs in Lusaka
- Receive and document vehicle fault, breakdown, and accident reports from drivers and fleet personnel.
- Arrange vehicle inspections and determine appropriate repair actions.
- Assign repair work to company mechanics, external workshops, panel beaters, and other service providers.
- Source, evaluate, and procure automotive spare parts and maintenance materials, ensuring value for money.
- Follow up on repair progress and verify completed work before returning vehicles to service.
- Coordinate accident-related processes including documentation, police liaison, insurance claims, and vehicle movement.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, quotations, invoices, accident reports, and downtime.
- Conduct regular field visits to garages, police stations, driver locations, and suppliers to support fleet operations.
- Safeguard company property including vehicles, keys, documents, and spare parts entrusted to the officer.
- Report any irregularities such as driver negligence, poor workmanship, or overcharging.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in vehicle repairs coordination, fleet management, accident handling, or related fields.
- Diploma or Degree in Transport and Logistics, Automotive or Mechanical Engineering, Fleet Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related discipline.
- Practical knowledge of vehicle maintenance, breakdowns, accident procedures, and spare parts sourcing.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with integrity and attention to detail.
- Computer literacy for maintaining operational records and preparing reports.
- Willingness to conduct regular fieldwork as required.
Additional Advantages
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence (mandatory).
- Experience in taxi, ride-hailing, car rental, transport, or logistics fleet operations.
- Familiarity with police procedures, insurers, insurance assessors, garages, and panel beaters.
- Knowledge of Japanese vehicles commonly used in taxi operations.
- Experience dealing with automotive spare parts suppliers.
- Basic automotive or mechanical skills.
